Reimagining Packaging, Naturally™
It’s no secret that more and more consumers are looking for more natural ways to help the environment and in the process shrink their own environmental footprint. And the brands that can help them do that are well-positioned to increase their brand equity and customer loyalty, naturally. So, we developed Natrellis™ with just those objectives in mind.
Versatility in Sustainability
Natrellis™ is one of the newest members of Sonoco’s EnviroSense™ family of sustainable packaging. Natrellis actually uses the by-product from the sugar can milling process, rather than taking sugar cane out of the market. The EnviroSense portfolio crosses a range of packaging materials, including cans made from 100-percent recycled paperboard, rigid plastic packaging containing post-consumer recycled content, mono-material flexible pouches that are recyclable, and innovative packaging made from agricultural fibers, such as the sugar cane by-product used in Natrellis. EnviroSense is more than just a packaging portfolio, it’s a way of thinking, a sensibility and a philosophy that guides our development of innovative, sustainable packaging.
From Our Farm To Their Table
As one of the first sugarcane-based packaging options, Natrellis has been thoughtfully and carefully crafted for use by consumers of single-serve meals with the flexibility of cook-in performance for the microwave and conventional oven. Pretty sweet.
And knowing that creating a great customer experience is a key part of your brand identity, we’ve created Natrellis to help you deliver just that. Cook-in packaging from Natrellis™ is designed to reinforce your brand story of commitment to the environment, and your commitment to the desires of your customers, along with the convenience of preparation, which further enhances their experience.
Because trust is at the core of any brand, we take seriously the trust you place in us as part of the brand experience you are creating for your customers. Our ultimate success is defined by how your customer feels each time they enjoy a great meal prepared in our sugarcane-based packaging.
The Natrellis™ Brand, born from nature and inspired by the “trellis” architectural structure that weaves materials together, is a partnership of Sonoco Products Company and Tellus Products – combining decades of experience with packaging design, materials science and responsible sugarcane farming practices.
Leveraging our sugarcane farming, processing innovation and packaging performance expertise, we’ve created a complete line of cook-in packaging products for the frozen and freshly prepared meal markets.
The Natrellis™ packaging portfolio includes:
Trays or Bowls molded with sugarcane fibers
Sonoco lidding, with options in rigid plastic and film
Commercial field service & development team
How Our Story Can Help Your Story
While Natrellis™ is a new brand, the people behind it have deep roots. We are jointly owned by Florida Crystals Corporation, Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida and Sonoco Products Company. Our owners are made up of more than 45 mostly family farms, who have been proud to carefully cultivate sugarcane and other produce in South Florida for generations. And Sonoco, a 120-year old, family founded packaging pioneer, with humble beginnings established in the farm belt of the Pee Dee region of South Carolina, in a small town called Hartsville, which is still called home. The first package Sonoco created was also an innovative, nature-based product; tubes and cones used in the textile industry made of paper. Founded by the Coker family, while now publicly-traded, family members are still part of this homegrown company.
Our first Natrellis manufacturing facility is located adjacent to sugar mills in Belle Glade, Florida that runs partially on renewable biomass power provided from the sugar mill and solar energy, making it an extremely efficient and environmentally sustainable manufacturing facility.
And while what we are producing is important, what we believe is central to who we are and why we are so passionate about this product. Our combined organizations owe our livelihood to nature, and we are committed to creating a more sustainable product and doing what we can to take care of our environment in the process. Trust, authenticity, earnestness and a focus on service are the cornerstones of our core values and we make every attempt to bring those to the experience we create for our customers.
